The joy of virtual travel on an all expenses paid mind trip to Greece is calling .... read on ..and click away MOVIE NO 1 : MAMMA MIA! Genre : Musical This movie was roasted like a tandoori when it came out! No plot, no climax, no storyline, bad singing…. Blah blah blah … said the Guardian and all followed suit …… All TRUE, of course BUT it had 2 redeeming graces going for it BIG TIME 1. The maddeningly melodious music of Swede group 'ABBA' on which this cheesy musical is based 2. And Meryl Streep And in 2008 it became the most successful movie musical of all time, not to mention the fastest-selling UK DVD on its release. All of Mamma Mia’s outdoor shoots were in Greece and all of its interiors were in a UK studio! I will not give away the story ..coz there isn't much of it anyway .. But watch the Movie for its beautiful locations and its classic ABBA music! Sophie and her fiancé Sky romp in the surf while singing ‘Lay All Your Love On Me’ here on Kastani beach. This is a sandy beach on Skopelos Island where much of the filming was done! The venue for Sophies’ wedding itself is the astonishing Agios Ioannis chapel, one of an estimated 360 places of worship on this modestly sized island .The chapel sits atop a 100-metre rock close to the town of Glossa, in Skopelos, and has the 202 steps we see on screen, when our screen goddess screams “The Winner takes it All” To listen to ALL Mamma Mia songs! Click this link below MOVIE NO 2: FOR YOUR EYES ONLY Genre: James Bond Thriller Sir Roger Moore….. As James Bond … Need I say more? • NORTHEAST INDIA - A PARADISE DISCOVERED

A Special Note to my fellow Indians I know how frustrating it is for all of us to stay cooped up at home & how dearly we all miss travel, being with friends, eating out and even going to the office! Even the less adventurous  among us are just "Waiting to Exhale" The COVID-19 pandemic had just changed our lives and perspectives forever! For us Indians, it was a proud feeling to clap for our carers but it was also extremely distressing to see our migrant daily labour flee to their meagre villages risking life and limb because daily labour is daily food and in a shut down city that means starvation and sure death! This is the time we as Indians need to think of "Not what our Country can Do for us, But what we can do for our Country" I am sure we are all trying to help our domestic help, our employees and our service providers in every way we can! However, Do you know which sector is the most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic? It is the Travel & Tourism Sector globally that will be put out of business in the coming months and years! There is no turning back now! So my fellow Indians, let us do our bit when the world opens up, Let us Travel in India FIRST! Let us help our domestic sector eat! Mee Time's "A Walk in The Clouds" - 8 Days Tour Itinerary For a short 8 Days tour, I, personally, would choose only 2 states viz: Assam and Meghalay. Not just because they are the most stunning but also because the region is not extensively developed and roads are kaccha and hilly and the travel time between any two sisters is therefore rather long and tiring! Also famous for its Root Bridges, these are a result of bio-engineering practised by the locals. The bridges can bear 50 people at a time and are spectacular to watch! We visit the Mawlynnong Living Root Bridge, which is an easy trek on a sturdy man-made root bridge made carefully about 200 years ago that has grown stronger with age! If you choose not to cross this bridge you could still enjoy your solitude and some spectacular selfies here before moving on to more magic! A boulder that balances on its own micro tip! Post this calming “forest bathing” experience enjoy a serene boat-ride in the crystal clear waters of  the Umngot river at Dawki! Return to Shillong completely transformed from the experience! Day 6: Shillong – A Sacred Forest Mawphlang village in the East Khasi Hills district, 25 kilometres from Shillong. This village is home to a sacred forest. According to local tribal beliefs, a deity known as Labasa inhabits the forest. It takes on the form of a tiger or leopard and protects the community. Nothing is allowed to be removed from the forest as it may upset the deity. There are tales of people who have broken this taboo becoming sick and even dying. Thanks to this legend and curse this forest has astonishing bio-diversity. Orchids, insect-eating pitcher plants, ferns, mushrooms, rudraksha trees have all been pristinely preserved for more than a 1000 years! Further, take an excursion to Laitlum Grand Canyons. These Grand Canyons have a birds-eye view of the city of Shillong. The green hills, the orchids, the bamboo plants, the cotton clouds - all from one point. Tip: Do reach here in the afternoon to avoid the thick morning shawl of fog that these beauties cover up with! • The Magic of Monet

Mee Time has some truly unique experiences in France in store for you on their Europe tour packages?…. where we take you to the? French countryside to visit the renowned artist Monet?s house and garden in Giverny. Relive the dreams and memoirs as you tread the same paths that inspired the esteemed painter Monet and his priceless works. The picturesque ride through the French country side is bound to take your breath away? The town of Giverny and the visit to Monet?s garden is the closest possible experience to bring a magical Monet painting to life. So ladies, for those of you who have an artistic bend, bring out the artist in you, set out into nature and dwell on the scenes that catch your eye. Maybe even make a sketch or two. I need flowers, always flowers, even flowers to pick? so that I can paint them on rainy days? Claude Monet. Our visit to the gorgeously preserved house and gardens where the famous painter who lived for over 40 long years gives you a special insight into the artistic flair of Monet through the use of colour and texture throughout the span of the house and the gardens. The house is modest by today’s standards but was considered a mansion in the late 19th century. The decor of the house is as it was when he lived there. The house is beautifully preserved and the views from Monet’s bedroom overlooking the gardens cannot be expressed in words. The beautiful cottage also houses replicas of Monet?s famous paintings, which are as good as the originals. Whether you are a lover of Monet’s work or you just an want to experience good things in life, you must join us on day trip from Paris on our?Europe tour packages. As you are taking a stroll in the Zen (Japanese) garden, past the famous Green Bridge ? you come to the pretty, pastel pink house with its spring green shutters, the ivy crawling up every surface. The gardens breathe life into an artist?s painting with the water lilies, weeping willows, the wisterias with the famous green Japanese bridge. Magique Jardin!! There are two gardens one immediately at the rear of the house ? the rose garden ? where the vibrant colours will leave you mesmerised and the lily pond which is like a mirror and the reflections of the trees are just as Monet had painted on his canvas all those years ago. It’s so picturesque to see the rowing boats, the weeping willows, the water lilies, and the bridge you could be stepping into the painting.?An uncrowded day offers you an opportunity to rest yourself one of the many benches for some “Mee Time” and soak up the ambience. We guarantee you that you will be blown away with the alluring charm of the garden, and the magical aura of the garden will draw you back for maybe another trip. The interior of the house is just as interesting and captivating as its surroundings. The third and the largest studio where Monet painted his ‘Grand Decorations’ is now a gift shop. You can still feel the atmosphere and light he was striving for to paint his final masterpieces. After visiting Monet’s cottage, you have to go to the Musee D’Orsay and Musee de L’Orangerie in Paris to see the impressionist exhibition there. A truly complimentary experience which has to be?absorbed and taken in even if you not an art lover. Mesmerised by the scenic vistas; explore the entire village – it really is hard to imagine a more idyllic trail. The walk down Rue Claude Monet is beautiful too as we take a walk up to the small church to see the grave and then have a bite to eat in one of the numerous little cafes. There is a special restaurant with a courtyard located just a few meters away. Enjoy your soup, baguette, wine or sorbet at La Capucine, as you soak in the resplendent beauty of nature while enjoying a laid back meal. We do promise you such unforgettable local experiences on all our?Europe tour packages. So girls we strongly recommend two things 1. Don?t miss this trip. 2. Try to have a good hair day, for you will want to be in all those pictures (and selfies too).

  • Iceland beyond the Northern lights -The Golden Circle Day Tour

A volcanic island full of arctic glaciers and lava spewing volcanoes! With its waterfalls that freeze over, geysirs that spew steam and thermal hot spots that could cook your enemy, your food or give you sauna nirvana in a single day, Iceland is a not a bucket-list item! It is a separate Bucket by itself! Don't believe Mee? Let me take you on Mee Time Iceland's #DayTrip around the #GoldenCircle! And you decide for youurself! The trip begins at Þingvellir ( call it Thingvellir coz 'Þ' is 'th') National Park, a historic valley where Viking lords used to gather to declare laws and settle feuds, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where Althing, the World’s first true parliament was established in 930 AD. This Park is still an active geological hot spot has weird geology and includes 1. A canyon OR Rift Valley formed here in between two distinct tectonic plates- the North American Plate and the Eurasian Plate! Called the Great Continental Drift a canyon is formed between these two which widens by a astonishing 1 cm every year! 2. Þingvallarvatn is Iceland´s largest natural lake and has mineral rich lava leaching into it and the roaring steam jets in the backdrop seem to be bebeckoning you for a stunning selfie! 3. Öxárarfoss is a 20-meter high waterfall created by the Oxara river. It falls into a pool also used as a drowning pool for, not surprisingly, women as a punishment for adultery and infanticide. However this was in the middle ages and it's a safe picnic spot now! 😄 P.S: Þingvellir (Þ is Th) and the Great Rift Valley of Eastern Africa are the only sites on Earth where the effects of two major plates drifting apart can be observed. 4. Next stop is at a unique Geothermal Bakery where we witness bread being baked in the ground using the heat from thermal hot-springs. Of course we get to taste the bread! The #lavabread is not just bread dough dumped into the earth and removed after its heated! There is a strict bread recipe followed for centuries to make a delicious rye baking hot bread! I will put up this #lavabread recipe for the #curiouscats on my #instagrams @meetimehols feed 5. We continue to Gulfoss Waterfalls or Golden Falls which are without a doubt Iceland’s most pretty and popular waterfalls. Located in the south iceland the water in Hvítá river travels from the glacier Langjökull, before cascading 32 meters (105 feet) down Gullfoss’ two stages in a dramatic display of nature’s raw power. You tube video for Drone Show of Iceland and Strokkur Next stop Strokkur geyser – this consistent geysers spews hot water as high as 65 feet every 4-6 minutes! There are bigger geysers in iceland but this one has put on a really reliable gig for over a years and made it a must see for Golden circle geeks! There is also a resto, a gift shop, hotel opposite this geothermal area making it a good pit stop. Finally, we stop at the Kerið Volcanic Crater Lake located in the Grímsnes area in south Iceland. A sapphire coloured oval caldera surounded by bright red active soil makes Kerid a handsome old boy. It is believed a conical volcano (like Mt.Fuji) erupted and its lava doubled on itself to create this beauty. Eventually water seeped into this crater.Nobody is sure though because this event took place about 3000 years ago and no one was really there to confirm! With this i end my virtual tour of Iceland. To kick the real tour off your Bucket list join Mee Time Holidays (www.meetime.in) during Summers and Winters (because Iceland is two separate countries depending on when you visit). The Winter itinerary has a daily bonus chase of the Northern Lights too! • Incredible India - Hanging Pillar of Lepakshi

Inside a beautiful Indian temple is a seemingly magical floating pillar that doesn't touch the ground. This temple is the Temple of Veerabhadra Lepakshi in Lepakshi, india. Built in the 16th century, the temple remains in good condition and continues to be both a place of spiritual and touristic importance. It also holds an ornately carved pillar that seems to stand without touching the floor.Said to be built around 1530 by Virupanna Nayaka and Viranna, two brothers who held leadership positions during the reign of King Achutaraya, the site was built as a pilgrimage destination to worship lord Shiva, one of the great deities in Hinduism. One of these decorated pillars is the famous Hanging Pillar of Lepakshi Temple, a massive block of granite that doesn’t appear to touch the floor. This hanging or “floating” pillar is said to be a miracle, and those who can get a thin object to pass underneath it will be bestowed with good luck. Visitors can often be seen passing scarves underneath the hanging pillar. Info and photo Courtesy: Atlas Obscura The land of Rishi's and Rajah's, India is incredible in every way. • Nothing Boring About the Aurora Borealis!

A mythical kingdom of elves and fairies. Dotted with a staggering 130 fire-spewing volcanoes and a sky glittering with infinite stars! Iceland is on countless bucket-lists for countless reasons! Not the least being Iceland's spectacle of its dancing celestial lights! Called the Aurora Borealis or simply the Northern lights, these celestial lights have been part of magic and myth for centuries! Let Mee demystify the aura around these auroral displays. What are Northern Lights? Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis in the Northern Hemisphere is a vivid & shifting display of colours seen on clear dark nights from select places close to the arctic circle. The most distinctive and brightest are the curtain-like auroral arcs. While auroras show various colours, green is the most commonly observed colour at lower altitudes. Best time to view Northern Lights? Northern Lights are typically seen on dark, moonless nights from late September to mid March. You need to be away from the city lights, and the sky needs to be free of any clouds. Since cloud cover is dynamic, it is difficult to predict the exact time and location where the lights will be best seen Mee Time's northern lights tour makes viewing these a priority and we do all we need to in order to watch them every evening, Literally chasing after them by frequently monitoring weather websites, being in touch with other groups chasing the lights. Facts and instincts developed over years of experience guide us to the best views of these....celestial gods willing, ofcourse! Best places to view Northern Lights? Northern lights can be seen only from certain areas of the Northern Hemisphere, which fall under the so called Auroral Belt, roughly between 660 to 690 North latitudes – which includes Iceland and other places like Alaska, Siberia, Northern Norway, Greenland and parts of Northern Canada. What causes Northern Lights? Our Sun continuously emits high energy charged particles (called solar prominences or solar winds) which travel toward the Earth and are deflected by Earth’s Magnetic Field. However, close to the north & south pole, the magnetic field is weak, resulting in these particles entering the Earth’s atmosphere where they collide with gases like oxygen & nitrogen. These collisions are what give rise to the colourful displays each colour being characteristic of a gas. The Earth’s magnetic field changes continuously and so do these auroras, giving the impression of an auroral dance. Wanna chase Northern lights with Mee Time Holidays? If you wish to be enchanted by this celestial dance and to explore Iceland's thermal baths, volcanos, beaches, go glacier walking  join Mee Time Holidays on their Winter Trips to Iceland.
